SCOPE OF THIS CHAPTER

The case audit process supports the raising of practice standards by providing the opportunity to reflect on practice and measure the effectiveness of the work being undertaken with children and their families who use the service. Whilst the audit process has a scrutiny role to evidence that practice is undertaken in line with the agreed standards, it is important to highlight that auditing also has a supportive and educative function, providing an opportunity for learning, that guards against complacency and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
